COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to enhance the aural/oral skills by training you in listening comprehension and speaking. Vocabulary and idioms employed in everyday conversational German will be introduced and practiced in situations. In addition to the course packet, we will use multimedia materials to enhance and facilitate the learning process.
We will stress the development of oral skills through communicative activities and by listening to and critiquing podcasts in German. Every student will have the opportunity to work with an iPod Touch for the duration of the quarter and learn how to create and record an original podcast using GarageBand software. Even though composition is not the main focus of this class, you will do some writing in the form of dialogues, preparation for discussion forums, or short power point presentations. The final project will be the creation of a podcast in German with a fellow classmate.
While you cannot expect to be completely fluent at the end of the course, you will nevertheless be able to converse in German about a variety of topics! The class will be conducted in German.

PREREQUISITES: German 102-2 or permission by the instructor.

EVALUATION METHOD: The final grade in thie course will be based on class participation, homework assignments, two short presentations and the final podcast project.
